MANILA, Philippines — Leaders of the House of Representatives expressed their sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies on Saturday over the passing of former Lanao del Sur Governor Soraya Alonto Adiong.
In separate statements, lawmakers extended their sympathies to the family of the late governor.
“Governor Soraya was a devoted matriarch and an extraordinary leader whose unwavering commitment and courage profoundly impacted her constituents. During the Marawi Siege, she stood as a symbol of hope and strength, working tirelessly with the Armed Forces and national agencies to safeguard lives and restore resilience during one of the province’s darkest times,” said House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to the Speaker, Adiong was also instrumental in bridging the gap between the provincial government and the people it served.
By the closing bell, the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) shed 0.26 percent, or 19.31 points, to 7,437, snapping a two-session winning streak.

Romualdez, Jude Acidre, Robert Ace Barbers, Joseph Stephen Paduano, Bienvenido Abante Jr., Dan Fernandez, Romeo Acop, and Keith Flores collectively paid tribute to Adiong’s legacy as a leader and public servant.
