The defender has been out since August due to an Achilles injury, having played just once in all competitions for Barcelona this term.

Flick's side fell to third in La Liga after suffering two consecutive losses last month, but have started 2025 in strong form.

They have won four matches in a row in domestic cups, progressing to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey while also winning the Supercopa de Espana title by beating Real Madrid last Sunday.

Flick is now keen to build on that momentum in La Liga, with Getafe up next in the league.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey expressed his enthusiasm and stated: "This bilateral series against Germany will be a remarkable showcase of world-class hockey. Both India and Germany have a rich history in the sport, and this series will give fans an opportunity to witness an intense competition between two of the most formidable teams in the world.

"It is a great honour to be nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award again," the Indian defender stated in a Hockey India release.

"We have taken a step forward in the last few games ... I am very happy with the team," Flick told reporters.

"Now we only have three injuries, and Inigo [Martinez] won't be out for long. We also have [Marc] Bernal and [Marc-Andre] ter Stegen. But Christensen is back and that's good news."

However, Flick admitted that attacker Ansu Fati, who has been with the club since he was 10, could be on his way out. The 22-year-old has made only one start in the league this season.

"For me, it's important to be honest with the players. I was honest with him. It's his decision," Flick said.

"We have talked about the possibilities he has. If he wants to stay, fine... we'll look after him. Maybe he can go back to how we want to see him.

"Let him talk to me, and we'll see what his chances are. Depending on what he tells me, I will be honest and tell him the truth."

Barcelona have drawn against Getafe in their last three visits to the Coliseum in LaLiga (all 0-0). Never in their entire history in the competition have the Blaugrana had four consecutive goalless draws away from home against a single opponent.

Flick's side are looking to avoid a third straight defeat in LaLiga, something that Barcelona have not done since April 2016 under Luis Enrique, and the German anticipates a tough game at 15th-place Getafe, who are on a three-match winning streak in all competitions.

"It's difficult to score in Getafe. We've talked about it with the team and hopefullyofa168, our plan will work," he added.
